His way of life is encroached upon by resort developers, tribal law, and the Montana state government. “Yellowstone” moves along quickly with a short introduction, but its story unfolds at the natural pace of a day in the wilderness, stopping at tribal rituals, cowboy conventions, and political machinations.
Land and family are his lifeblood
This is a far-reaching undertaking that lies at the crossroads of law and justice, family and friendship. Costner seems to fit in naturally with his character. He is a man who has grown weary of the world, who has seen too much and lied too often.
Update 7/20/18: After four episodes, this series has a strong voice and a steady pace
He hears footsteps approaching, but he can only fulfill his role out of habit and devotion. While some of the actions are a bit confusing due to lack of explanation, they feel natural, as if the viewer is getting a real slice of life, a glimpse into another world. I hope the conclusion to this saga includes an emotional resolution that justifies its breadth and attention to detail.
